Our Story

A mission born from love, urgency, and possibility.

Sentinel Biosystems and Lucian's Food exist because too many children and families are still left out of the food system. We're here to change that — at the scale it deserves.

Our story begins where most food companies stop short — with the kids who can't safely eat what's on the shelf.

Sentinel Biosystems was founded on the belief that the next era of food manufacturing must be safer, cleaner, and radically more inclusive. Our facilities are designed from day one to be vegan and free of the top 15 allergens, supported by AI vision systems, robotic handling, and end-to-end traceability. The result is a manufacturing platform that families can trust and that institutions can scale.

Lucian's Food is the heart of that vision. As our nonprofit and public benefit arm, it carries the mission to children with severe allergies, families navigating autism and sensory feeding challenges, school districts seeking inclusive meals, and communities that have been historically underserved by the food system.

Together, we are building more than products. We are building an ecosystem — a manufacturing partner for mission-aligned brands, a procurement option for schools and hospitals, an advocacy voice for inclusive nutrition, and a community for everyone who believes food should never leave anyone behind.

The Story Behind the Mission

Why this exists

Lucian's Food was not created in a lab.

It was created out of necessity.

It began with a child, a family, and a system that wasn't built for them — shelves of food that could harm instead of nourish, school lunches that meant sitting alone, and a quiet question that too many parents already know by heart: what can my child safely eat today?

That question became a mission. The mission became a company. And the company became an ecosystem — Sentinel Biosystems building the manufacturing future, and Lucian's Food carrying it to the children, families, schools, and communities who need it most.

Lucian, a child with autism and severe food allergies, depends on strict dietary safety to stay healthy. For his mother, every meal has been a constant calculation — not just of nutrition, but of survival.

Food labeling gaps, cross-contamination risks, and a lack of truly safe manufacturing environments have made something as simple as eating dangerous and unpredictable.

After repeated health scares, medical concerns, and the stress of trying to protect her child in a system that wasn't built for him, she made a decision:

If safe food didn't exist at scale — she would create it.

A Mission Bigger Than One Family

Behind the business is a deeper reality: Amanda Long, founder of Lucian's Food, is building this while facing her own serious health challenges, including a brain tumor. Amanda Long's goal is to leave something meaningful behind — for Lucian, for her children, and for children around the world who need safer food.

The vision is a manufacturer that can keep reproducing safe foods in a controlled environment for children like Lucian, with products that could one day be eligible for medical insurance coverage and shipped to families worldwide.

This is about time, impact, and making sure children do not suffer simply because the food system was not built for severe allergens.

The Vision Moving Forward

Lucian's Food proves the need. Sentinel Biosystems will solve the problem.

What We Stand For

Our values, in practice

Safety as the default

Allergen-free isn't a feature — it's the standard. Every facility, recipe, and process starts there.

Innovation with humanity

Robotics and AI exist to make food safer and more accessible — never to replace the people we serve.

Access without compromise

From premium retail to school lunches, the same quality belongs to every family.

Transparency end to end

Traceability, sourcing, and ingredient honesty — built into the system, not the marketing.

Partnership over ownership

We grow by collaborating with the schools, hospitals, brands, and innovators who share the mission.

Mission compounds with scale

The bigger we grow, the more children, families, and communities we can serve.
