A mission born from love, urgency, and possibility.
Sentinel Family Network is a nonprofit. Lucian's Food is the story that started it — a child, a family, and a system that wasn't built for them. We exist to change that, at the scale it deserves.
Our story begins where most of the food system stops short — with the kids who can't safely eat what's on the shelf.
Sentinel Family Network is a nonprofit organization. We were founded on the belief that safety, inclusion, and dignity in food are not optional — they are rights. Our work focuses on emergency safety for schools and first responders, allergen and autism education, family support, and advocacy for the children and families the current system leaves behind.
Lucian's Food is the story behind this nonprofit — not a company, not a product line we're selling. It is the lived experience of a child with autism and severe food allergies, a mother who refused to accept that the system couldn't be safer, and the recipes, moments, and lessons that became the reason Sentinel Family Network exists.
Everything we build — the Sentinel Classroom Safety Station, the emergency safety profiles, the Family Wall, travel and allergen resources, partnerships with first responders and schools — flows from that story. It's why we exist, and why we're inviting families, educators, donors, and communities to build it with us.
Real traction. Real partners. Real communities.
From major venues to school districts and local farmers markets, here's where the mission has already taken root.

The Story Behind the Mission
Why this exists
This story did not begin in a lab.
It was created out of necessity.
It began with a child, a family, and a system that wasn't built for them — shelves of food that could harm instead of nourish, school lunches that meant sitting alone, and a quiet question that too many parents already know by heart: what can my child safely eat today?
That question became a mission. The mission became Sentinel Family Network, a nonprofit. And Lucian's Food became the story we tell — the why behind every safety plan, every classroom partnership, every resource we put in front of a family, a teacher, or a first responder.
Lucian, a child with autism and severe food allergies, depends on strict dietary safety to stay healthy. For his mother, every meal has been a constant calculation — not just of nutrition, but of survival.
Food labeling gaps, cross-contamination risks, and a lack of truly safe manufacturing environments have made something as simple as eating dangerous and unpredictable.
After repeated health scares, medical concerns, and the stress of trying to protect her child in a system that wasn't built for him, she made a decision:
If safe food didn't exist at scale — she would create it.
A Mission Bigger Than One Family
Amanda Long, founder, building with urgency, love, and a promise to leave something meaningful behind.

Behind the business is a deeper reality: Amanda Long, founder of Lucian's Food, is building this while facing her own serious health challenges, including a brain tumor. Amanda Long's goal is to leave something meaningful behind — for Lucian, for her children, and for children around the world who need safer food.
The vision is a manufacturer that can keep reproducing safe foods in a controlled environment for children like Lucian, with products that could one day be eligible for medical insurance coverage and shipped to families worldwide.
This is about time, impact, and making sure children do not suffer simply because the food system was not built for severe allergens.
The Vision Moving Forward
Lucian's story proves the need. Sentinel Family Network, the nonprofit, is how we answer it.
Allergen-free manufacturing
A fully allergen-free production system — safety engineered into every step.
Access where it matters
Safe food delivered to schools, hospitals, and the families who need it most.
A new safety standard
Setting a new bar for food safety, traceability, and transparency at scale.
Our values, in practice
Safety as the default
Allergen-free isn't a feature — it's the standard. Every facility, recipe, and process starts there.
Innovation with humanity
Robotics and AI exist to make food safer and more accessible — never to replace the people we serve.
Access without compromise
From premium retail to school lunches, the same quality belongs to every family.
Transparency end to end
Traceability, sourcing, and ingredient honesty — built into the system, not the marketing.
Partnership over ownership
We grow by collaborating with the schools, hospitals, brands, and innovators who share the mission.
Mission compounds with scale
The bigger we grow, the more children, families, and communities we can serve.
